Hope After Rape (HAR) is a registered women founded NGO formed in 1994 as a result of concern about the increasing number of reports of child sexual abuse, rape, HIV/AIDS and other forms of gender based violence. The organisation is committed to the promotion of women and children’s health and rights with emphasis on capacity building programmes on issues of child abuse, HIV/AIDS and GBV as well as provision of support and care services to survivors of abuse.

The organisation is committed to implementing its programmes in close consultations and collaboration with local and district leaders, professional bodies and personnel including the police, magistrates, Judges and health workers. Community resource persons and other local leaders are also of fundamental value to HAR programmes.

HAR geographical focal areas include: Teso, Mbale, and Central regions in Uganda.
